If your appointment is for an older child, 7 to 36 months, ARRIVING on time is IMPERATIVE! Arriving late takes time away from your 30-minute appointment. DUE TO CLEANING AND STERILIZING THE ROOM, YOU WILL NOT BE GIVEN EXTRA TIME FOR ARRIVING LATE. What is the best age to have my baby's ears pierced? I pierce babies as young as two months. The best age is 2.5 to 3 months. Most babies start teething at 4 to 6 months. If your baby has received her first DTaP vaccinations, her lobes may be pierced. Please note: Vaccinations take 14 days to be fully active. Please consult with your baby's pediatrician. "Do you pierce with a needle?" I DO NOT PIERCE WITH A NEEDLE I pierce with the earring of choice. Please view the video at the bottom of this page. Does your instrument do the piercing? The earring of choice is used to pierce the lobes. Earrings are inserted into my instrument; the instrument's only function is to hold the earring in place. I perform the actual piercing, control the instrument's tension, and manually insert or screw on the backs. How long is the appointment? Each appointment is 30 minutes dedicated to applying the numbing spray FOR OLDER CHILDREN (I DO NOT APPLY NUMBING SPRAY ON INFANTS), selecting earrings, marking, and piercing. (If you preordered 14kt gold screw backs your earrings will be available on your appointment day.) Since I need to modify and create a point I recommend using our 14kt gold clutch backs to pierce and insinstall personal earrings after the 10-week healing process. VERY IMPORTANT SPORTS AND PIERCING: please read if your daughter plays any Sport. X IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT YOUR DAUGHTER NOT BE PIERCED DURING THE TIME, SHE IS PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS! Removing and re-inserting earrings before the 10-week healing process may cause the inner lining of the piercing to create scar tissue, inflamed, and cause infections! If you remove the earrings during the 10-week healing process and request that I re-insert them, you must schedule an appointment. There will be a 75.00 appointment charge. I will NOT waive the fee. Are there limitations after piercing? Babies, toddlers, and adults may assume ALL normal activities. School-age children should check with their sports directors to see what limits their school sets regarding sports. If your daughter swims, I recommend refraining from swimming for two weeks. Too much moisture will prevent the piercing from creating an inner scar. I recommend children be careful at preschool or school while playing and at home about changing clothes, siblings, and pets. Leaving the earrings in for 10 to 12 weeks will ensure the piercing is ready to accommodate new earrings. Once again, waiting and patience will ensure a successful outcome. What if my daughter removes the earrings before healing and can't get the earrings back in? It usually occurs when children are not patient enough to wait the 10 week healing process or remove the earrings due to sports regulations during a sports injury. Please DO not force the earrings back into the piercing as this will sometimes cause trauma to the inner lining or create a blood blister to the back of the earlobe and bruises to the back of the lobes, creating an extra exit hole. You may schedule an appointment to check the lobes and re-insert the earrings. (There will be a 75.00 fee to re-insert the earrings or re-piercing.) https://babypiercingappointmentpage.as.me/ Message to Parents during the healing process: Would you please check daily to ensure that the clutch (OF THE EARRING BACK) is extended to the end of the earring post? The earring back should NEVER TOUCH ANY PART OF THE EAR LOBE. Having the earring back on too tight will create a blood blister and sometimes the back will merge into the skin and will need to be surgically extracted. CLEANING AND TURNING MUST BE DONE DAILY. Earring backs should not touch any part of the lobe. It also applies to any new earrings your daughter might insert AFTER THE HEALING PROCESS. Earrings must remain on the lobes for a minimum of 10 WEEKS. Longer is recommended! PARENTS - DO NOT OVER-CLEAN THE LOBES. The piercing needs to heal. Overcleaning will create too much moisture, not allowing the piercing to heal properly! Please do not remove the earrings before the healing time. 10 to 12 + weeks! Some children take longer to heal. Waiting to switch earrings will ensure the lobes are well healed and can handle nongold earrings. When you're ready to switch to other earrings, please apply a little Neosporin to the new earring post; this coats the inner lining of the piercing. Please do this the first few times you switch earrings. What type of earrings should I avoid after piercing? Parents, please have children. Avoid using the following earrings for the first six months. Costume Jewelry. Sterling Silver. Gold Plated Earrings. Gold-filled earrings. Titanium earrings as they are too short. Heavy Hoops.
